Mohawk brings together ten of Sinclair’s poems written over the last twenty-five years and sets them to music with the help of his friend, British multi-instrumentalist Steve Fly. Sinclair recites poems about Thelonious Monk, Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker and other musicians while Fly adds his interpretations and re-workings of the music of these masters of jazz. The result is a highly original 36-minute trip through the jazz landscape that John Sinclair has explored and mapped since the 1960s. ‘Mohawk’ was released in 2014 on Iron Man, Birmingham. The CD comes in a gatefold sleeve with a 12-page fullcolour booklet both carrying artwork by CHU. Each copy of the small number available from Sea Urchin is signed by John Sinclair.
