Japanese artist Junko joined her husband Jojo Hiroshige’s noise band Hijokaidan as a vocalist in 1982. Since then she has been a constant member of the band and of most of its kaidan side projects. Junko’s shrill screams turned into an important element in her husband’s noise concept and developed into a harsh instrument of noise themselves. Over the years Junko embarked on solo performances, solo recordings and collaborations with other artists, such as Michel Henritzi, Mattin, Pandu, in which her voice is always extremely intense and confrontational. Joachim Montessuis recorded Junko solo in Paris in 2013 and 2014 and released those recordings as the LP The Void on his own Erratum Musical label. The Void. Junko. The scream of screams. Edvard Munch stretched on the rack for 40:46 minutes.
