German artist Jürgen Eckloff is a frequent member of the Column One collective and co-manages, together with Robert Schalinski of Column One, the 90% Wasser record label from the surroundings of Berlin. Eckloff’s minimal and repetitive sound pieces usually form part of deconstructionist live performances. Side one of this beautiful LP was recorded in 2010 and contains a hypnotic performative reading (with moustache) by Eckloff of Friedrich Nietzsche’s name. The audio work was initially released on cassette by Rumpsti Pumsti, Berlin. Side two, also recorded in 2010, was part of the live performance Es geht im Kreis herum (Round in Circles it goes). The piece is fittingly subtitled Der (Halb-)Mechanische Derwisch (The half-mechanical Derwish) and is described as the “electro-acoustic derwish deconstruction of a German pop song”.
